Buying Doors Without a Showroom Visit: How an In-Home Measure Works

Many door companies in Miami sell from a showroom: you drive there, pick a door, and someone measures later. TrueFrames works the other way around. We come to your home or site, measure every opening and go through the options there, so the doors are chosen for the actual rooms.

01

Why measure first

A door that looks right in a showroom can be wrong for your opening: the height, the wall thickness, the floor level and the way the door swings into the room all change the result. Starting at your property means the choice is made with the real dimensions, the real light and the floors and walls the door has to match.

The measurement is free across our South Florida service area.

02

Before the visit

A little preparation makes the visit faster and the quote more accurate.

  • Make a list of the doors you want to change, room by room.
  • Take photos of a few openings from both sides.
  • Collect reference images of doors or finishes you like.
  • Have your building rules ready if you live in a condo.
  • Know your timeline: when the doors must be installed, and whether other work such as flooring or painting comes first.
03

What happens at the visit

We measure each opening: width, height, wall thickness and how square the existing frame is. We note the swing direction, the floor finish and anything that could get in the way, such as switches, vents or uneven floors. Then we go through door systems, finishes and hardware from our catalogs and talk through what suits each room: standard swing doors, hidden doors, sliding systems or taller doors.

If an opening needs work before a new door can go in, we point it out at the visit so it is not a surprise later.

StepWhat you get
Measuring every openingSizes for doors made to fit, not the nearest stock size
Checking frames, walls and floorsAny extra work identified before the quote
Going through optionsDoor styles, finishes and hardware matched to each room
Talking through the scheduleProduction, delivery and installation timing
04

After the visit

You receive a written quote with the doors, the installation and any extra work listed separately. A standard interior swing door is $650 to $700 as a complete set with frame, trim and hardware, plus $350 for installation, so you already have a good idea of the total before the visit. Once you confirm the order, production and delivery can take two weeks for eligible doors, and installation is scheduled when they arrive.

05

When a showroom still helps

If you want to touch a specific wood species or see a very large pivot door move before you commit, seeing the product in person can help. For most interior door projects, choosing at home with the real openings in front of you gives a better result and saves a trip.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you begin.

Is the in-home measurement really free?

Yes. It is free across our South Florida service area: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

How long does the visit take?

It depends on the number of doors. A few openings take little time; a whole house takes longer because every opening is measured.

Can I choose doors without a visit?

You can start from photos and our catalogs, and we can price from a door schedule. Final sizes are still confirmed on site before production.
